Where's the energy kick?

Is it really the end of the first trimester? At first it seemed like it was creeping by then all of a sudden we're 13 weeks! The only thing that has come with week 13 is a 3 day migraine ... I'm still waiting on that "boost of energy." I've never been a big Tylenol fan (or medicine fan at that) so I'm trying to take as little as possible. After 4 Tylenol I realized that wasn't going to cut it. The doctor said I could take Excedrin migraine so this morning before work I decide to try it out. After going to 3 stores that were completely OUT of Excedrin I asked the RiteAid employee what the deal was. She said they had been recalled because of a mixup in medications at the factory. I decided to go with the off brand and so far so good! I've still been taking it easy to prevent it from stirring back up again. Here are my 13 week stats....

How far along?  13 weeks

Total weight gain/loss?  Scared to know after those cupcakes
Maternity clothes?  Just pants.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep?  Good other than the migraine
Best moment last week? ** Baby books! (see below)
Movement? Not yet
Food cravings? Not really cravings but definitely know what I CAN'T eat.
Gender?  Find out in March!
Labor signs?  No
Belly button in/out?  In
What I miss? Nothing really other than being able to eat normal but it's definitely worth it!
What I am looking forward to? Finding out what baby is and finishing up the 1st trimester!
Milestones? None

**Saturday I had a nice surprise on my doorstep from Amazon. My amazing aunt who has ALWAYS done so much for me got me a little surprise.

What to Expect When You're Expected: A Fetus's Guide to the First Three Trimesters

When My Baby Dreams

On the Night You Were Born

I can't even talk about how sweet these books are without tearing up (it may be the hormones haha). It hasn't really "sunk in" yet that there will be a baby at our house come July but these books definitely got me excited. They are so sweet and I am so glad that I will have these to keep to show the baby when it gets older. "This is the book your Great Aunt Judy gave you when you....." etc. You get the picture. During my engagement my aunt gave me a lot of special things that were important to her and my grandmother (Judy's mother) whom I never knew. This baby is just another special occasion in my life that my aunt will be a part of and that I will remember forever. My aunt made most of my baby clothes and we still have those to use for our baby. My mama used to always tell me how good my Aunt Judy is to me and at a young age it meant something but it means even more now. I guess it's a southern thing but I love all the passing down: silver, china, namesakes, etc. I can't wait for Baby Barrett to be here and meet all the special people that are waiting to love on him/her.

Best Husband Ever Award

So far I haven't had any "cravings" for anything. For the past two weeks I have eaten pretty much the same thing... Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, a banana (or two), 2 (or 3) baby pickles, salad, peanut butter on graham crackers, cinnamon applesauce and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. EXACT SAME for the past two weeks no lie. I don't know how it came about but Gigi's Cupcakes popped in my mind the other day which got me looking at their website which made me HAVE TO HAVE ONE. I sent Cowboy a message and told him I HAD to have a Gigi's cupcakes, it was a serious craving. He blamed it on my sweet tooth so I got over it. When Cowboy came home that night he walked in empty handed... I didn't bring up the cupcakes because he's done AMAZING getting me whatever I've needed the past few months. When he came in the den he had a BOX of cupakes. Not one, but six!! So far I have eaten 2 and he ate one. I'm debating on whether or not to freeze them since I'm eating them like a starved dog. These were the flavors:

Midnight Magic

White Midnight Magic

Birthday Surprise

Southern Comfort

Hot Chocolate Mama

Wedding Cake

If you have never had a Gigi's cupcake, get one now. They are delicious !!

Not much has changed since last week. I have been having some sinus trouble and still nothing sounds good to eat. I'm hoping this will pass at the end of next week (end of the first trimester). Tomorrow I am going to the doctor for a flu shot. I have never had a flu shot but after a little research and asking friends, I hear it is recommended that pregnant women get a flu shot. Hopefully I won't get sick after getting it!

Baby Barrett Update

Here are a few photos of Baby Barrett!

6 weeks....

11 weeks.... It's amazing how fast they grow! That is a hand coming from the top of the face, not a Pinnochio nose!

I think this is 6 weeks, shortly after we found out.

The precious ornament my mama gave us. We sent this out as our Christmas card.

Our little news bearer... this is how we told Justin's parents the news.

Christmas Day... Around 9 weeks I think.

We are now at 11 weeks and I have definitely started embracing the maternity pants. It still looks kind of like a food baby...

Size wise, baby is the size of a lime!

So here goes my (hopefully) weekly pregnancy update:

Weddings and Babies

Before 2011 was over, I knew 2012 was going to be a BIG year. Last October, my cousin Emily got engaged to a wonderful guy, Brewer, and set the date for June 2nd of this year. She was my maid of honor and I will be her matron of honor. Talk of babies has come up lately and in the midst of one of mine and Emily's conversations about babies and weddings she said, "You need to have a baby, as long as you're not about to give birth at my wedding!" So is an 8 month pregnant girl considered close to giving birth?

With that said, Baby Barrett will be here the end of July! Justin and I found out on November 19th (after 4 positive tests.....!) that we would be blessed 9 months later with a baby. It took about a week to process but we are VERY excited! I will post pics soon of Baby Barrett so far. As of today we are 10 weeks and 5 days. I am going to try and post a weekly report of what's going on with baby.

Back to the wedding, last week I ordered my bridesmaids dress. I was assured by different dress shops that deal with pregnant bridesmaids all the time and that I just needed to order 2 sizes up and should be fine. Well that was a lie. I called to order my dress and told them the situation. I said, "I normally wear a size 4 in dresses so I guess I just need an 8?" Well that just wasn't going to work. After measuring a 7 month pregnant worker in the store (who measured for a size 22!!!) she thinks I will be ok with a 16..... SIZE 16. I'm anxious to see how that ones going to look...

More to come later!
