Catching Up

Wow! It has been a LONG time since my last post... I'm not sure where to begin to catch up so I will just start from what's going on now. Brantley is 15 months old! It's hard to believe how fast the time has gone by. I sure did cherish when she was a tiny baby, knowing it would go by fast, but it's hard to accept the fact that is now a toddler :( And a firecracker at that! She is into everything. Some of her favorite things are animals, taking baths, grapes, being outside, riding her blow-up cow and reading books. She eats almost anything and has a great appetite. Lately she has started throwing some fits, especially when she doesn't get what she wants. There have been a few frustrating days but I'm glad she has a lot of personality!

We had a GREAT first birthday party! Jayne, my mom and Mrs. Jennie fixed some amazing food. I made the smash cake (which she loved) and Joe did the cake and cookies. Brantley had a BIG day. A lot of family and friends came and the weather turned out perfect.  I spent a lot of time working on directions and they all turned out wonderful!

On Brantley's birthday Mrs. Jennie gave me a gift certificate to get some family pictures by the amazing Shae Owens. I LOVE how they all turned out! So thankful for such a thoughtful gift.

Other than that we have just been enjoying life and soaking up all the fun times with sweet Brantley. Although I am not doing so well with the monthly post I am going to try to blog more. We have lots of exciting things coming up!!

9 Months

I've already recorded your previous months in your baby book so I'm skipping to 9 since I'm behind! I haven't taken your 9 month pictures yet because you won't sit still long enough but I will post them as soon as I get them.

You are on the move! You are still crawling every where and have recently started to stand by yourself. I just know any day now you're going to take that first step. You are still eating really well, you will eat almost anything. You "rode" Cowgirl for the first time! We just sat you on her but you loved pulling her mane and feeling her hair. Mother's Day Out is slightly better but you still cry when I drop you off and pick you up. You LOVE looking at books. We read every day. You have your first real cold. Not sure where you picked it up from but you gave it to me too. I hate seeing you so pitiful! You love to be outside and play with the dogs.

That's about all you've been up to lately. I will post pictures as soon as I can and hopefully start posting more regularly!

Encouraging Words

I was sitting here at work, scrolling through my blog thinking about what to type yet feeling so overwhelmed I decided not to post anything until I read this. This is an amazing blog and has encouraged me in SO many ways! Although I am not house hunting, I am hunting for any way to stay/work from home. I feel like I'm starting to sound like a broken record and am feeling ready to give up on trying to figure out ways how to do it. I'm stuck between just staying where I am and riding it out or really fighting for something I've always known I wanted to do. Taking her to Mother's Day Out has not been ANY easier. After dropping her off this morning a little girl (maybe around 4) whispered to her mother, "She cries a lot." Talk about breaking my heart!!

Just like Laura says, I hate to even ask for this because there are many other people fighting much harder battles than I am. The verses she shared remind me that this bold asking is our privilege. Such encouraging words! I know that my wants will be fulfilled in His time. I'm just learning to be patient and know that God has bigger plans and all to propser me.

I know I haven't posted pictures lately but here are a few from my phone!

Since I'm off on Tuesday and Thursday and Justin has been out of town a lot I've been feeding the cows pellets.

Brantley's first time on Cowgirl. She LOVED it!

Since about 6 months old this girl has been crawling and about 7 months pulling up. No where in the house is safe anymore :)

Catching Up

Wow it's been a while! So much for keeping those monthly updates monthly! I don't even know where to start so I guess I will just jump right in. We have been busy! Some days I don't feel like I have a minute to think. Justin has been working a lot out of town on a job site, as you know March has come and gone so I'm back at work (part time) and Brantley has started Mother's Day out. Let's just start with the negative so we can end on the positive!!

I absolutely HATE taking Brantley to MDO. There's just something about another person telling me what my child did all day. It all started because my boss is now asking me to come into the office part time. I work half days, 3 days a week. Some people think that's nothing. It really isn't a lot except for the fact that my mind and heart are in MDO 2 miles away... Today is day 3 of her there and it hasn't been any easier. I don't expect it to be for a while. Some moms are totally fine with sending their children off, to each their own! I'm not dissing anyone who puts their child in daycare starting when they're 6 weeks old. If there's one thing motherhood has taught me, I don't care what you do with your child or how you raise them, that's your choice and how I choose to raise my children is my choice. I understand it's good for them to be exposed to other children, etc. but my mother stayed home with us and we turned out just fine.

I really feel for those mothers who have to put their children in daycare 5 days a week, all day. There's a lot that goes into it! I don't want to be totally bitter because I have been SO FORTUNATE to stay home with Brantley until now. Hopefully within a year I can stay home without having to work. I keep telling myself if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!

On to the positive, the MDO is really nice and is right by my office. The ladies are SO sweet and they really care about each of the babies. They text and will send pictures throughout the day if I ask.

Other than having to do the MDO everything has been great. I plan on posting her monthly updates with pictures soon! Brantley has been doing amazing. She is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything! She is the funniest baby ever. On the farm side we have been busy as well. Most afternoons and every weekend (all weekend) Justin is doing farm work. Brantley and I have been able to ride and do stuff with him and she loves it.

I will be back soon with pictures and monthly updates!

Stop the clock

Where is the time going?? I just realized Brantley will be 7 months old in 5 days. She is changing SO fast. Although she was pretty fussy as a baby the other day I caught myself missing her being that small. I realize she's still a baby but how am I going to handle it when she goes to kindergarten?! I may need medication! I understand why some moms choose to work instead of staying home with their kids. It's not for sissys. But for me, I couldn't have it any other way. She is changing before my eyes. I know some days it is frustrating and we have off days but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Since she turned 6 months she has been on the go. We have lowered her crib, again. She is sitting up and on the move! Some nights she will take off towards the hall or kitchen and decide to explore. She has started pulling up and really playing with her toys. She gets bored with them now and prefers to play with a spoon or cup. She still loves the dogs. Tonight she crawled around the kitchen floor trying to get to Brinkley. We tried peaches for the first time today and she liked them. No green vegetables for this girl yet... I may have to sneak some butter in there for her ;) This weekend we are going on a Young Farmers trip to Columbus. It will be her first trip staying in a hotel. I'm looking forward to a nice little get away!

I hate to have a pictureless post but I wanted to jot down these thoughts while I had the time. Next up, her 7 month post!

6 Months

Wow it has been a while! I really have not had the chance to sit down and blog. With work getting really busy for my two events in March and a baby that is SUPER active I haven't had much down time. Anyways, here is how Brantley is at 6 months!

-almost sitting up. If we hold her hands she will sit there but she's usually trying to get to something on the floor
-personality really coming out. She still loves "You are my sunshine"
-started sleeping in crib (with me getting up 4-5 times a night to give her pacifier back) at the start of February
-eating bananas, butternut squash, prunes, sweet potatoes, applesauce, carrots
-started eating 3 times a day
-rolling around and scooting (since this she is officially crawling!)
-sleeping from around 8-8:30 to 6:30.
-car seat is much better, will fall asleep. For Uncle Rob's birthday we made a trip to Mobile with mama, Jayne and Emily.  She did amazing and we had a lot of fun!
-first superbowl, Ravens won
-nursing 5 times a day plus 3 meals (6-7 ounces)
-if I had to guess weight I would say around 16 lbs and maybe 25 inches? We go to the doctor Wednesday for our 6 month checkup.

I can't believe she is already 6 months old. Time has really flown! It has been so fun to watch her personality come out and learn new things everyday. I have enjoyed every second of staying home with her.

Finally a few pictures!

Hanging with her friend Emma James. She is one month younger than Brantley.

This is one of my old outfits made by Brantley's GeeGee. Love how it brings out the blue in her eyes.

First tractor ride in daddy's tractor! January 20th

6 months picture. This is my old dress, gold necklace and bracelet. I wore this outfit in my 6 month picture.

This bracelet was given to me by my great aunt Cute. It was worn by her mother. She wore it then passed it on to her daughter. She gave it to me and now it's passed on to Brantley. She is the 5th generation to wear it. Such a neat story.

Love those big blue eyes.

and since it's been a while, a cow photo. The husband hard at work at his 2nd job. So thankful for all the hard work and time he puts in. This year during the super bowl there was a Dodge truck commercial to the speech "So God Made a Farmer" by Paul Harvey. I couldn't describe a farmer any more perfectly and I see all of those things in Justin. I really am proud of how much he has accomplished and how hard he works 7 days a week.

Hopefully I will get another blog in before summer :)

5 Months

Happy 5 months Brantley! So happy that I am posting on the actual day. I know I say this every month but I can't believe you are 5 months old. You are changing everyday!!

Here you are checking out your first Christmas ornament from GeeGee

You met Santa

Happy baby!

You had a great first Christmas! You got a lot of toys, books and clothes from your grandparents. Your daddy gave you a beautiful silver bracelet and a matching one for mama.

Here's what you've been up to lately:
-we started cereal 2 weeks ago because you are waking up in the night
-you've started napping about twice a day although today you're napping more since you traveled a lot over Christmas!
-you are trying so hard to laugh but nothing really comes out
-you have found your feet and like playing with them
-you love to watch the dogs. If you get really fussy I let Brinkley in and you will watch her play
-you are still eating 5 times a day ; when you get a bottle I give you 7 ounces so you must be growing!
-earlier this month we went to the doctor for your 4 month checkup. You weighed 13 lbs 3 ounces and were 25 1/4 in long. Top 15 for height and 50th percentile for weight. It was sad to watch you get shots again but you rallied back pretty fast

That's about it! I finally cleaned off my camera card and moved some pictures around so when I get more time I will upload more pictures.

Today is also a special day because one of my best friends from middle school gets to meet her little girl, Hailey Ruth! My friend found out a few weeks ago Hailey has some heart problems so please play for a safe delivery and for the doctors who are taking care of her. You can follow her story here:
